Lots of people get nervous when they think about going to the dentist. Here at Cooper Family Dentistry, we make it our goal to make each visit as pleasant as possible. We understand what it’s like to have dental anxiety, and we work hard to do our best to alleviate it. Here are a few of the things we can do.
We Welcome Advance Visits
For some people, it helps to come to our office before the scheduled visit and just walk around. By becoming familiar with us, and with our office, it makes the actual visit much less stressful. If this is something you would like to try, you are more than welcome to come visit us.
We Help You Distract Yourself
For some of our patients, we have found that allowing them to bring in a portable DVD player or something like a personal stereo helps with dental anxiety. By distracting yourself, you stop thinking about where you are and what you are doing, and it seems to help.
So if you want to bring in something to keep your mind off of the visit, no problem! We’re happy to accommodate you.
We Believe in Open and Honest Communication
Some of our patients just come in, sit down, and let us get to work. Others like to know what’s going on. If you find that being informed as to everything we are going to do—before we do it—helps with your dental anxiety, we are more than happy to take the time to explain everything to you.
If you want, we can even show you an illustration of the technique we are preparing to perform, so you can understand what is going on and how it will help you. Whatever it takes to help alleviate your dental anxiety, we are willing to do it. We believe in going the extra mile to make our patients feel happy and comfortable, so just ask!
Let Cooper Family Dentistry Help You!
We have been practicing dentistry for a long time, and we are pretty good at it. You don’t need to worry that we will accidentally injure you, or that something catastrophic is going to happen when you are in the dentist’s chair.
Come see us today. If you like, we can sit down with you—before you get in the chair—and visit for a bit. We can explain to you what we are going to do when you come in for your cleaning, and why it is important to have it done. Call us today and let’s get started!
